Our Second Boat
Our designer said that the rig details and propulsion were relatively easy to change, which made simpler, cleaner lines and not quite as traditional boat. To accomplish this, he started at the bow by providing a spoon bow in lieu of classic clipper bow. He replaced the Sampson post with large anchor cleats, and replaced the cutter rig with a sloop rig—reducing the hardware, running rigging, and the self-tending Yankee Sail. He then replaced the dorads with solar vents and now there was no need for the bumpkins and taffrail to match the trail boards. All the fixtures were changed to stainless steel in lieu of bronze with an exterior trim to be mahogany in lieu of teak. The propulsion became a four stroke outboard in the lazarette. The exterior now has the simple clean look that required less maintenance, but still had a traditional design.
